Protecting our youth

Yesterday I participated in our Richmond march in support of the youth-organized March for Our Lives. It is distressing to know that the adults in power have missed the opportunity to keep our children safe on campuses across the country. On the contrary, the violence continues.

The day of reckoning has come and young people will no longer tolerate inaction. They are speaking up and they are silently protesting. It was inspiring to see so many familiar and unfamiliar faces in the crowd in my town. The youth who did not make it to D.C. stayed, and just like their peers elsewhere, they are demanding that the adults in positions of power listen to them and do something to keep them safe.

I applaud them, I join them, I support them in this as I always have when it comes to their right to be safe and free.
